Social Media In Political Campaigns

Here are some great tips I came up with if your running a political campaign. Failure to do these things will result in your candidate loosing to the other guy/gal that is.

Online suggestions:

Twitter at minimum 3 times a day about what you are doing. Flying to location X, Traveling to campaign location Y, having a break from campaigning to spend the day with family at home on our farm, etc

Facebook at minimum 2x a day posting videos, EVENTS, etc,

Twitter and Facebook are about connecting on a personal level. The political is great and necessary, they expect that. But, they are on those social media places to connect with people. Think of it like your front porch where people used to hang out. They don’t do that anymore so they use this to stay connected. The question is “what are you doing right now?”

Blogging at minimum once a week and preferably twice a week. I doesn’t need to be long just needs to have a lot of meat. Detail national and local issues in light of the constitution and why X, Y, Z are bad and who the “boogey man” is and why you need to win this race to defeat him
Blog about arguments like with Verga at the last candidate forum and attach/insert video of that confrontation.

Newsletter (Minimum 2x weekly): Needs to go out every Tuesday and Friday You should be able to schedule the release of these emails to be timed for around 11a.m on tuesday or 1 p.m and the same for Friday. Alternate the times from week to week and then check the reports in Constant Contact to see if it makes a difference.
Make sure to link to a vimeo video in each one with a short description of what is in the video. People may not read an email but they will watch a video.
Make sure that ALL subscribers are getting these emails. You have over 1800 people signed up to get this newsletter and the last 4 that went out only went to about 200 on the list.
